| // PROJECT NOTES // KMA is working with a real estate organization to transform this 1990's retail center. The multiple-building property fronts on a high-visibility corner and the completed project motif is intended to reflect the area's commercial / industrial character. The original mansard roof elements will be removed to give the entire building an updated appearance. The colonnade that wraps around the front of the building will also be removed to open up the storefront and allow more natural light into the spaces. Exterior materials were chosen to reflect the neighborhood's character; metal panel and shipping container hardware will be used on the building to reflect the area's prominent shipping industry. To make the building use more flexible, a drive-through lane will be added. By improving the appearance and functionality of the project, there is opportunity for increased lease rates. |
