Don joined KMA in 1986 after moving back to San Diego from Hawaii, became a Partner in 1992 and President in 2005. After attending the School of Architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Don graduated with a BA and MA in Art (Design) from San Diego State University. Don is a licensed Architect in seven states, and his diverse project experience includes mixed-use, commercial, retail, industrial, and government commissions. Don has led the firm in the direction of sustainability since 2001 and is a LEED Accredited Professional. The idea that Architecture is an opportunity to address challenges with a creative analytical approach has motivated Don to find new ways of incorporating his passion for design to bring value to his clients.
