SUSTAINABILITY (continued)
Buildings incorporating sustainable design principles have also been shown to return significant benefits in terms of occupant health, productivity and satisfaction, and are beginning to command significant premiums in terms of marketability.
New technologies and advanced engineering techniques will play an increasingly important role in sustainable building design in the future, and KMA is particularly well positioned to help our clients benefit from the “green” revolution because of our in-house engineering group. Having M/E/P engineers as permanent and full time members of our design team allows us to explore and incorporate sustainable and energy efficient features at the earliest stages of the design process, resulting in more efficient fully integrated sustainable building designs which cost less to build and return greater benefits to the owner and users.
KMA is also committed to the Leadership in Energy & Environmental (LEED) program. Three of the company’s principals are LEED Accredited as well as a number of staff. KMA encourages all staff members to become accredited by providing training and reimbursement for costs associated with passing the LEED examination. Our goal is to have 100% of our design team members LEED accredited.
