ResMed Corporate Campus, with KMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) as executive architect and design architect Davis Davis Architects recently received a People’s Choice Orchid during the annual Orchids & Onions Awards. Hosted by the San Diego Architectural Foundation (SDAF), the awards ceremony recognizes this year’s best and worst projects of San Diego architecture.
The Orchids & Onions Awards, a fundraising program of SDAF, presented 24 awards to designers selected by a panel of architectural peers in a number of categories, including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, historic preservation, planning policies, public art, sustainable design and urban design. ResMed was selected through a public online vote.
“The KMA team is excited to achieve project recognition by our community through the People’s Choice Orchid award,” said Don Blair, president of KMA. “It is a wonderful accomplishment that our project can be honored along with such a remarkable diversity of local designers and projects.”
The six-story LEED-certifiable ResMed commercial building, located in Kearny Mesa, is known for its modern architectural design and the elaborate drought tolerant landscaping of the building’s central park. The 250,000 square foot building also incorporates an abundance of natural lighting in public spaces and includes an exercise facility and a full-service cafeteria.
