KMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) has been awarded a contract by the United States General Services Administration to design upgrades to the mechanical systems of the 13 primary customs inspection booths at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. Located at 2500 Paseo International in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, the existing equipment at these guard booths has exceeded its life expectancy
This new design work will upgrade the units mechanically, add cooling to the system and provide better ventilation and air circulation with the use of new chilled and hot water fan coils. KMA will also be updating the controls to Direct Digital Controls, which will increase the efficiency of the system, allow the building manager better monitoring of the equipment and provide better comfort to the occupants.
KMA’s project team includes Jim Belmont, project manager; Jay Guerrero, electrical designer; and Billy Jennings, mechanical designer. The general contractor is Hernandez Construction Corporation and the mechanical contractor is Dynamic Air.
