KMA designs combat center at Twentynine Palms
A combat center building designed by San Diego-based KMA Architecture & Engineering and constructed by Straub Construction is nearly complete.
The P-710 Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center is part of the Marine Corps Grow the Force initiative. The military plans to construct more than 72,000 square feet of temporary administrative and military functional facilities, including concrete pads, utilities, fences, access roads, parking lots and sunshades for equipment and vehicle maintenance.
The total project includes 29,000 square feet of administrative space with 21 modular buildings, 7,000 square feet of classroom space, 11,000 square feet of storage, 3,500 square feet of armories and 3,000 square feet of modular restroom buildings.
"We aligned our design plans with the Marine Corps’ mission to provide durable and multipurpose training facilities that meet the needs of the base and the Marine and Navy occupants," said Don Blair, president of KMA. "With the Grow the Force initiative underway, the designs for new structures will also adequately accommodate the recent personnel increases in the Marine Corps."
