CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY FOR SAN MARCOS RETAIL CENTER
(SAN DIEGO, CA) February 21, 2008 — Construction has begun on Melrose Plaza, a neighborhood retail and commercial center located on the new extension of Melrose Drive at the corner of Sparrow Lane in San Marcos. KMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) was retained by developer Julian Piccioni to provide architecture and engineering services for the 18,400 square foot project, one of the first new commercial developments in the La Costa Meadows area. The project will consist of two single story buildings comprised of 14,400 and 4,000 square feet. The buildings will feature standing seam metal roofing with deep overhangs and eave brackets reflecting an Craftsman style design. Clerestory towers punctuate the roofscape and stone veneer and exterior stucco alternately accent the buildings’ facades. Retail tenants in the development will include 7-Eleven, Windmill Cleaners and L.A. Boxing.
