KMA ARCHITECTURE & ENGINEERING BEGINS RENOVATION OF LONG BEACH HISTORICAL BUILDING

Project’s Commercial Space will be donated to CSULB and Arts Council of Long Beach

 

KMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) has begun design of the Press-Telegram Lofts, the renovation of the former Press-Telegram Newspaper building and portions of the historic Meeker-Baker building in downtown Long Beach, located on the city block bounded by Pine Avenue, Sixth Street, Locust Avenue and Seventh Street. Upon completion, 60 residential units will be sold at cost to California State University Long Beach to be provided to tenure track professors, and ground floor office space will be donated to the University’s Center for Community Engagement and the to the Arts Council of Long Beach.

 

KMA’S design for the new mixed-use project, owned by Press Telegram Lofts LLC, include one 22-story high rise tower with surrounding four to nine-story low-rise buildings that will accommodate 542 residential units ranging from 500-1,500 square feet. It also includes approximately 37,000 square feet of commercial and retail areas and 1,000 parking spaces.
